So, the wait is over and DANCEATHON 2.0 is live and in action.
We are here at the Nishat Hotel, Johar Town for one of the most awaited events of the year – Nestle Pure Life Active DANCEATHON and everything is in full action. The place is lit with colorful neon lights and the fitness spirit is palpable. It was a never before seen sight on the purple carpet with more than 500 women lined up to register. Older women, younger women, pregnant women, women with children were all eager to get their danceathon t-shirts on a and get grooving.
Danceathon 2.0 is the brainchild of mothering blog Scaryammi and fitness outfit AimFit, sponsored by Nestle Purelife Active and Ghar Par.
“This event is revolutionary and has one aim,” said The Original Scaryammi Ayesha Nasir, who was literally bouncing on her toes with excitement and grinning to show off her glow painted streaks. “Never have so many hundreds of women come together in Lahore for one single aim: fitness. The energy is insane.”
Noor-ul-Hira Shaukat, COO of AimFit, who was stretching her back after putting 700 marks on the floor for women to dance on was too pumped up to stand still. “Oh my God! Everywhere I turn, I see women. There are women still registering, women getting painted, women putting on their glowsticks. This is bigger than I ever imagined.”
Hosting the pink carpet was none other than TV host and makeup artist extraordinaire Amna Kardar. “I have hosted so many events in my life but this is the first time I am having so much fun on the pink carpet. This is unbelievable. Look at the number of women who have turned out for fitness.”
The decor done by the House of Shazia Cheema was on point. It was as close to a daytime disco feel as possible with silver, purple and pink disco balls arranged in an asymmetric fashion. Thousands of glittering strings in pink, purple and silver hung from frames all across the massive space. Though the workout is expected to start on time at 12 noon, the music was already pumping and the excitement was palpable.
“We are doing nine fast-paced tracks today,” said Noor-ul-Hira Shaukat, “and one song has been specially choreographed for this event. It’s super hard and complicated to get 10 instructors to dance in unison on the stage but we have been rehearsing like mad and fingers crossed, we will be able to make it happen.”
The attendees were so excited that they could barely wait for the event to start
“I attend all Scaryammi events and I was the first one to buy ten tickets for this one,” said Nazia Ali Khan, a Scaryammi loyalist. “This is one of my all-time favorite Scaryammi events.”
“It is amazing to see pregnant women come in too as it shows they believe how important fitness is,” said Shanzay Nazir, a blogger attending the event.
In a nutshell, the event is in full swing and the people are loving it.
