Salat-ul Tasbih is one of the many beautiful gifts passed on by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to his ummah. Not only does it erase your sins completely, but also helps you build a close and personal connection with Allah. The virtue of performing of Salatut Tasbih was mentioned in Ahadeeth of the Messenger (PBUH) of all mankind and Jinns till Doomsday. Its first and foremost virtue being that it erases all the previous sins.

Why is it named it Salat ul Tasbih?

This salah contains the excessive glorification of Allah. To say “Subhaanllahi Walhamdu lillahi Wa Laailaha illallaahu Wallahu Akbar” (Glory be to Allah! Praise be to Allah! And there is no god but Allah and Allah is the greatest) is a glorification. In every Rak’ah of this prayer these words are recited seventy-five times, and in total – 300 times in four Rak’ah of this salah.

Benefits of Salat ul Tasbih

It is recorded in Sunan Abi Dawud and other books of hadith that our Beloved Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said to his uncle, Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib (RA):

“Oh uncle shall I not give you Shall I not grant you Shall I not award you Shall I not do mercy on you When you do 10 things Allah will forgive your sins: of the future and of the past; new and old; those you have forgotten and those you did knowingly; big and small; hidden and revealed. Then he (Sallallaho Alihiwassallam) explained the taught the way to pray Salatul Tasbih and then said if you can pray this salah once a day if you can not pray once a day then every Friday, and even if this is not possible then once a month and even if this is not possible then once a year and even if this is not possible then at least once in a lifetime.” (Abu’Dawood & Tirimzi)

Note: This Hadeeth has been mentioned in twenty books of Hadith. But references of only four books have been given here just to make it brief.

The Prophet (PBUH) said about Salat ul Tasbih that, by the grace of this Salah, Allah forgives all sins of the future and of the past, new and old, those you have forgotten and those you did knowingly, big and small, hidden and revealed.
